Reaching 98% completion on framing marks a monumental milestone in any renovation project, laying the robust skeleton for our future dream home. This foundational work sets the stage for the critical next phases: integrating the essential systems of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, insulation, and finally, the transformative addition of drywall. The journey from raw studs to finished walls is a thrilling one, and we can almost hear the “Hootie hoo!” of celebration echoing through the soon-to-be vibrant spaces.

During our most recent visit, the temporary plywood barricade protecting the front door was carefully removed, allowing us to capture the stunning photograph above. This shot offers a glimpse into the future, showcasing the captivating view directly from the front porch – a perspective that will soon greet family and guests alike. It’s a testament to the vision slowly but surely taking shape.

Venturing upstairs, the transformation continues with extensive new framing defining the layout of the upper level. While the current stage might still appear somewhat abstract, we promise that once the walls are enclosed, the intricate design and functional elegance will truly begin to shine through, sparking immense excitement for what’s to come.

The new framing provides a stark contrast to the earlier state, most notably signifying the triumphant eradication of bothersome termite rot – a challenge that many older homes present and one we’re thrilled to have behind us. This robust new framework not only ensures the longevity and safety of the house but also paves the way for a beautifully designed interior.

Among the notable new additions to the upper level, we are particularly excited about the creation of a dedicated hallway. This view, captured while standing in the back/master bedroom, reveals a thoughtfully designed passage. We meticulously modeled its dimensions after the hallway in our current home, settling on a comfortable 43-inch width. This specific measurement ensures the space feels neither cramped nor overly expansive, striking a perfect balance that prevents it from encroaching excessively on the adjacent rooms while maintaining a welcoming flow. It’s these kinds of detailed decisions that transform a house into a truly functional and comfortable home.

Positioned strategically over the back staircase, these tracks herald the arrival of two colorful doors, each envisioned with frosted glass panes adorning their top halves. Downstairs, while the overall structural appearance remains largely consistent with previous updates, a crucial new development is underway: we’ve begun to meticulously mark off the precise locations for the kitchen island and cabinets. This preliminary layout work is essential for determining the optimal placement of various lighting fixtures, ensuring both functional illumination for meal preparation and ambient lighting for entertaining.
