Here’s the washer and dryer update you’ve all been asking for. Yesterday our fabulous front-load washer and dryer arrived — they ended up being floor models because Lowe’s mistakenly sold the ones we had previously purchased. Fortunately, they arrived in excellent condition. The dryer is flawless, and the washer has only a tiny scratch on the top that you’d need a magnifying glass to find. All things considered, we’re really pleased that Lowe’s made the mistake: the floor models look just as good and the mix-up saved us an extra $150, bringing our total discount on the pair to $500. The store even mentioned they sold them to us below cost, so they didn’t profit from the sale.
We didn’t stop there. Of course we went back to the store to speak with a manager about a four-year warranty for both appliances, which is normally valued at $250. Since we didn’t ask for floor models and they had been on display, we were concerned about potential wear from being shown and handled. We hoped the store might compromise with a warranty on one appliance or a partial payment, but instead the manager agreed to give us the full four-year coverage for both units. The computer system wouldn’t allow a free warranty, but the manager reduced the charge to just $13. That’s an incredible deal and a great example of standing up for what you want — Lowe’s came through.
Below are quick before (during demo) and after photos of our laundry nook. A fresh coat of paint and some bamboo blinds made a huge difference, and the space is back in business. Next on the list is addressing the exposed outlets on the back wall so everything looks finished and tidy.
