Remember the West Elm duvet cover that we ordered on sale last week? It’s finally arrived.
Here it is in our bedroom:
We’ll add bolder accent pillows later, but we already love it. The color is a touch greener than we expected, which actually reminds us of the bold blue-green we once used on the back of our built-ins. We stuffed it with an extra-cushy king-size IKEA comforter (there are a lot of similar options, so we’re not completely sure which one it is). And we’re so glad we stopped trying to make a full/queen cover work on our queen bed—the extra fabric means no more arms or legs hanging out in the cold.
And we’re not the only ones who love the new bedding:
Ignore the chihuahua foot nibbling—that’s a regular occurrence. He grooms himself like a cat. Sometimes he looks a bit more presentable:
But most of the time Burger looks like this: happily buried beneath the covers.
With the new duvet in place, we’re itching to paint the walls. The duvet reads a few different ways in photos, but this next shot probably captures the hue most accurately: it’s a bold teal.
We’re narrowing down paint swatches now. We don’t want the walls to match the duvet exactly—that might be overwhelming—but we do want something darker and smokier than what we usually choose so our bed and the crown molding really pop.
No clear winner yet—we started with about 15 swatches and are slowly trimming the list. We also considered pulling the goldy-yellow tones from the duvet for the walls, but we both prefer a cool gray-blue-green for the bedroom. Hopefully we’ll pick a color and tackle painting that large room soon. It’s our biggest bedroom project yet—14 x 14 feet feels palatial to us.
Did anyone else receive their West Elm after-sale order yet? We were pleasantly surprised by how fast ours arrived.
