Here, you’ll discover Thrill of the Hunt, a haven for beautifully upcycled furniture. Their inventory is constantly changing, offering fresh ideas and unique additions for any home.

On your return journey from Ashland, make sure not to bypass Class and Trash. This treasure trove is packed with vintage and shabby chic delights, including an impressive collection of metal signs and letters that can add instant character to any space. We make it a point to stop by a few times each season, as their extensive inventory (both large furniture pieces and small decorative accents) means there’s always something new and exciting to behold.

Begin your exploration at RAL Reuse, a small but mighty shop that we adore not only for its potential for unique finds but also because it proudly supports the Richmond Animal League. Its convenient location near one of our absolute favorite cafes, Urban Farmhouse, makes it an ideal stop. Even if hunger isn’t calling, pop in for a revitalizing coffee or tea and soak in the truly inspiring design aesthetics. For those with limited time, Urban Farmhouse also boasts a downtown location.

Continuing down Midlothian Turnpike, you’ll encounter a Salvation Army Family Store. This particular location stands out as one of the most furniture-heavy thrift stores we’ve explored locally, offering a wide array of larger pieces. If furniture isn’t on your current shopping list, you can seamlessly bypass it and proceed directly to The Decorating Outlet. While not a traditional thrift store, it’s an absolute must-visit due to the incredible deals it consistently offers. We’ve sourced countless lighting fixtures here, but our finds also include fantastic rugs and furniture—like our ridiculously discounted kitchen table, which remains a cherished piece.

Reaching this segment of the route signifies that you’re nearing our undisputed number one destination for thrifted furniture: Love of Jesus Thrift Store, also conveniently located on Midlothian Turnpike. This expansive store boasts an incredible volume of furniture, making it a goldmine for those seeking substantial pieces. We’ve acquired a multitude of items here, including a dresser that we famously painted with a gradient effect back in 2012, which still beautifully graces our bedroom today. Just across the street lies the Family Thrift Center. Historically, this used to be more of a convenience stop, but our recent discovery of this amazing $9.98 headboard for a showhouse project has officially elevated it to a new favorite! It just goes to show that you never know what treasures await.

If, against all odds, you still have time and energy (a truly ambitious feat!), Caravati’s is an absolutely worthwhile detour. This isn’t a typical thrift store; it’s an architectural salvage wonderland. While the prices are understandably higher, reflecting the unique and historical nature of its inventory, the sheer visual spectacle and the opportunity to discover incredible salvaged pieces make it an unforgettable experience. Prepare to be inspired by vintage doors, mantels, hardware, and much more.

Known for its incredible selection of both savory and sweet pies, this cozy spot offers not just a delicious meal but also a final dose of vintage decor inspiration to round out your day.
