From conceptualization to production, every step was a labor of love.

From Concept to Camera: Our North Carolina Photoshoot
Capturing the essence of our furniture required a special touch. The stunning shot above, featuring our elegant Swoon Upholstered Bed, was taken during our extensive photoshoot in North Carolina last August. If you follow us on Instagram, you might recall our road trip down there, car packed to the brim with accessories, eagerly anticipating the styling of each scene. It was a whirlwind of creativity, and you can revisit a recap of those moments here.
All the “in situation” photographs of our furniture were taken in a beautifully appointed real person’s home, which we rented for a week. The homeowner, an interior designer herself, provided us with an incredible architectural backdrop to work with. The atmosphere during the shoot was dynamic; pieces were constantly rearranged, the garage overflowed with tables of carefully curated accessories, and camera equipment was everywhere. The images you see often depict a living room that, through the magic of styling, transformed into a cozy bedroom or a sophisticated dining area, showcasing the versatile potential of each furniture piece.
Living with Our Designs: Comfort, Durability, and Style in Our Own Home
A few weeks ago, we had some of the furniture samples from the photoshoot delivered to our own home. This truly completed the dream: designing pieces we genuinely love and want to live with every day. Integrating them into our personal space has taken our appreciation to an entirely new level. And by “our,” I mean my relationship with the furniture! However, my husband, John, is more than welcome to join us, especially when relaxing in this exceptionally comfortable armchair. With its removable side pillows, it easily transforms into a spacious chair-and-a-half, perfect for lounging.
Beyond comfort, the practicality is outstanding. This armchair, like many pieces in our collection, features innovative performance fabric. This isn’t just a chemical spray; it’s a meticulously crafted, tightly woven material designed from durable fibers to inherently repel stains and resist wear. This means I no longer have to worry about spills from kids, muddy paws from our dogs, or even my own occasional tea mishap. It’s truly furniture designed for real life, offering peace of mind without compromising on style.

The Collaboration: Partnering with Industry Experts
Our journey to create this furniture line was a collaborative effort with a distinguished company based in High Point, North Carolina – a renowned hub for furniture manufacturing. This is the same esteemed company behind Universal Furniture, a name many of you might recognize from our podcast. It was through this existing connection that we initiated discussions about an exclusive furniture line of our own, a process that began approximately 18 months ago.
Throughout the development, we made several trips to their showroom for inspiration and to immerse ourselves in their expertise. Crucially, their team also visited our home to gain a firsthand understanding of our personal aesthetic and design preferences. Working hand-in-hand with their seasoned designers, we began to draft a comprehensive array of furniture ideas, meticulously blending our vision with their manufacturing prowess.
The design sheet pictured above, partially blurred, represents the dynamic nature of the development process. Not every idea makes it to the final collection. Sometimes a design doesn’t translate as beautifully in physical form, or it might prove challenging or too costly to produce. Occasionally, a retailer’s selection process leads to certain pieces being set aside. While it’s always a little sad to let go of some concepts, the positive news is that we are continuously working on new designs. This allows us to potentially revive and reimagine some of the wonderful ideas that didn’t quite make it into this inaugural collection for future releases.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the prospect of releasing alternate colors and fabric finishes for our most popular bestsellers. From the photoshoot, we personally acquired those chic navy X-Back chairs and this versatile white pedestal table. They’ve found a perfect new home in our bonus room, where they now serve as an upgraded crafting corner for our children. Our growing kids had outgrown their previous kid-height table and miniature green chairs, and this new, more regular-sized setup has been a huge success. An added benefit for us? We can now comfortably sit with them during craft time without suffering from butt cramps caused by those tiny old chairs!

Our overarching goal for this collection was to create exceptionally versatile pieces that embody a classic aesthetic while offering intriguing, unique details. Take, for instance, the elegant dresser below, which features a charming diamond pattern inspired by the beloved diamond windows of our duplex. This distinctive design is offered in two universally appealing colors – crisp white or subtle gray – ensuring it seamlessly integrates into any existing decor.

These thoughtful details, combined with easy-to-integrate color palettes, make it incredibly simple for our furniture to blend harmoniously with your current furnishings. This means you can effortlessly upgrade an old dresser, refresh your coffee table, update your media cabinet, or enhance your dining area without the daunting task (or expense) of completely redesigning your entire room. Or, for a simple yet impactful touch, consider adding this charming little Valet End Table next to your sofa. In our own bedroom, we recently made a practical upgrade, replacing my old dresser (the one with the notoriously stuck drawer, famously featured in my closet video tour) with this beautiful 6-drawer Wisp Dresser. The vintage dresser that once resided there has now found a happy new home in our guest room, where its occasionally sticking middle drawer bothers no one. Meanwhile, I finally have six fully functional drawers that glide open and shut without a struggle! It’s a win-win for everyone.

It was paramount for us that every piece in this collection not only looked beautiful but was also exceptionally well-constructed and durable. We infused the designs with subtle “nods” to our personal style and architectural inspirations, creating unique character. For instance, the elegant dentil molding adorning the Wisp Dresser (pictured above) mirrors the classic dentil molding along the roofline of our own home, adding a touch of familiar charm.
Several pieces boast an inlay-inspired pattern, a detail that brings me immense joy, reminiscent of classic artisanal techniques. The Noble Dresser, featured below, pays homage to a cherished vintage dresser passed down to us by John’s dad. It’s often challenging to find new pieces with such cool, old-world details as gracefully fluted legs or tabletops that break away from simple rectangles. Notice the intricate shape of the dresser top below – these are the thoughtful design elements we were thrilled to incorporate, blending heritage with modern functionality.

Beyond aesthetics, the structural integrity of our furniture was a top priority. You won’t find any flimsy, paper-thin cardboard backs here; every piece is built with robust construction for lasting quality. All our sofas and armchairs are upholstered in our signature performance fabric, which is not chemically sprayed but rather crafted from densely woven, highly durable fibers. This intrinsic design makes the fabric naturally more resistant to stains and everyday wear, ensuring your furniture remains beautiful for years to come.
We also delighted in incorporating clever, fun bonus functions and features into some of our designs. These include discreet tiny castors on our skirted dining chairs, allowing for effortless movement, and a small, luxurious sliding velvet jewelry tray tucked inside the drawer of our debonair dresser – perfect for organizing your cherished accessories with a touch of elegance.
