We asked. You voted. We listened.
A few weeks ago we put out a ballot to choose a new color for our drab bookcase, and the results are in.
All three subtle options received support, and several of you suggested additional hues, but we went with the majority choice. Meet the new green bookcase:
We didn’t choose the softer, greyer green from option #3. Inspired by a kitchen featured in Kristy’s Design Dilemma, and feeling bolder than usual, we selected a brighter tone: Glidden’s “Zen Mist.” It’s a purer green with a touch of lime-yellow warmth. After a coat of primer and two semi-gloss coats, the bookcase was transformed.
We love the result. Thanks to everyone who pushed us out of our white-washed comfort zone—this color is a major improvement over the reddish wood finish that clashed with the room. The new shade complements the green accents on the dining room wall while still letting the white objects on the shelves stand out.
