Snow-Covered Brick Ranch: Winter Curb Appeal Ideas

It’s still picturesque here at Casa Petersik a day after we woke up to eight inches of snow. Since this is the first time we’ve had measurable accumulation in three years of living here, we couldn’t resist sharing one more look at the beautiful white blanket Mother Nature laid across our home.

Now that the sun is out, the photos are brighter and clearer, though they still don’t capture the full magic. “Winter wonderland” feels like the perfect description. Here’s another shot of our backyard looking as charming as ever:

And here’s a view of the back of our house taken from where that snow-covered arch appears in the photo above:

That’s me descending the steps with my red gloves in hand, just before a fun walk around the neighborhood. Our house is a little like a mullet—business in the front, party in the back. The front reads traditional and ranch-style, while the back feels crisp and modern thanks to our sunroom addition. Most neighbors don’t even know there’s an addition since it’s tucked away out of sight from the street.

I made a little snow dog—a “Snow Burger,” to be exact:

John built one facing away from me. It’s funny—mine ended up sitting while his is standing:

Here’s our favorite house in the neighborhood all dusted with snow. We call it “the bed and breakfast” because it looks so cozy and inviting—and it even has a tennis court and pool in the backyard. Absolute ooh-la-la!

We often joke that we’ll die in this house, but if that bed-and-breakfast ever went on the market, we might rethink things…

How about you—any snow stories to share? Are there houses in your neighborhood you’d love to own? Do you see your current home as a long-term place to stay or more of a temporary solution? We’d love to hear.
