I can’t promise we’ll recreate this mood board exactly for our future bedroom — the plan might change by the time we move — but right now this is what I’m excited about (and John is surprisingly on board):
1. I’m imagining a cozy, enveloping room painted a rich, saturated teal like the color stripe at the top of the mood board (Benjamin Moore Rendezvous Bay 726). To balance that bold color I’d introduce white furnishings and accessories along with deep, warm woods to anchor the space. I’m also tempted by a pop of tangerine for a playful accent. Mixing in a few different prints and patterns plus some geometric shapes and modern lines will bring everything together.
2. A round mirror would reflect light and break up the deep wall color so the room still feels airy. I picture it centered above a four-poster bed.
3. A sleek, affordable double dresser in a rich wood tone would be useful, since the built-in drawers and shelves in our bedside wardrobes will stay with the house (we’re offering them to the buyer because they’re built in with a header and crown molding). Sometimes these IKEA dressers show up on Craigslist for even less than the in-store price.
4. John and I both like the idea of a new bed with some presence; we’re leaving our current frame for the future homeowner because it fits the built-ins. A new bed paired with luxe teal walls should still feel open while creating strong, elegant lines in the room.
5. These curtains would look stunning against teal walls. We’re both leaning toward embracing more pattern and color in the next house, even if it means moving away from the breezy white curtains we currently use everywhere. Change feels fresh.
6. John liked the idea of tangerine bedside lamps to break up a monochromatic look. While we love the lamps from Crate & Barrel, we’ve also spotted similar, budget-friendly options at HomeGoods and might explore those if we move forward with this concept.
7. The clean, modern lines of this night table would complement the four-poster bed and dresser for a coordinated yet not overly matchy set.
8. I’ve been admiring this chic, organic bedding since I saw it in the West Elm catalog. John agrees that a new bedroom deserves new bedding. A textured, layered look with a large-scale duvet pattern and a bold curtain would feel rich and intentional, while the brown and white furnishings would keep the overall look grounded and calm.
So that’s my current master bedroom wish list. Anyone else enjoying the idea of layered textures, contrasting patterns, and rich, saturated hues balanced with plenty of white? Any bedroom planning or daydreaming happening on your end?
