Book Your Perfect Tour: Top Tips for Planning Unforgettable Trips

The day has arrived: we can finally share the finalized book tour dates straight from our publisher. We’re excited to get out and meet readers, sign books, and talk about the projects in the book.

A few important notes:

1. If it were possible we’d visit every corner of the globe to thank each of you in person. Tour planning involves many moving parts, so we’re incredibly grateful for every stop that was scheduled—especially since the tour was originally planned to be much smaller.

2. If you’re disappointed we’re not coming to your city, don’t worry: we have a huge giveaway planned for Monday that includes flying one winner and a friend to Richmond for the November 8 signing, plus meals, shopping, and other treats. 3. The tour could grow—more dates may be added depending on how things go. For example, our Austin stop wasn’t on the original schedule but was added after strong pre-orders at BookPeople. We’ll announce any additions as soon as they’re finalized (there’s talk of a possible Atlanta stop in February).

4. The blog while we’re on the road will be a juggling act, but we’re committed to keeping things lively. We’ve prepared some extra projects to reveal during the tour and lined up a collection of house crashings to share. If you have a lovely home in one of the tour cities and would like us to consider it for a house crashing, please email photos. We’ll also share travel photos, window-shopping highlights, and some goofy video footage from events and flights so you can come along for the ride.

5. Clara and Burger will travel with us for part of the tour and stay with grandparents for other legs. They don’t love planes, unfamiliar rooms, or disrupted naps, so we’ll keep them comfortable by limiting their time on the road. Leaving them for some events will be hard for us—neither of us has spent a night away from Clara—but we want to do what’s best for them.

6. Support the hosts: many of the bookstores and shops hosting events prefer that attendees buy a book at the event for signing. If you pre-ordered and want it signed, that’s wonderful and we appreciate it, but buying a copy at the host venue helps support the people who made the event possible. With the holidays coming, consider gifting your pre-ordered copy or using it as a display while you read another copy.

Behind-the-scenes detail: the photo of the book is a “dummy copy”—the cover wrapped around a blank book while the printed copies are being produced in Indiana. We expect our first physical preview soon, and we’re already excited.

Update #1: Some readers worried the book wouldn’t be available at events before the official release date. There will be stacks of books for sale at every event, whether at independent bookstores or partner venues like West Elm and Flor.

Update #2: We don’t always control which cities are included—hosts and scheduling determine stops. That said, the tour may be extended, so stay tuned.
