Let’s get wreath the program, shall we? Forgive the pun — we’re just excited about our latest holiday project. Cardboard Safari, who we recently mentioned in a Sponsor Shout-Out, sent us two of their white cardboard snowflake wreaths, and we were eager to assemble them. One of the best things about Cardboard Safari kits is that they arrive flat-packed: laser-cut recycled cardboard sheets that you punch out and fit together, like an entertaining 3-D puzzle for adults.
It’s exactly our idea of a good time — we love DIY projects, recycled materials, and anything in white. Here’s how our cardboard wreath began: a stack of laser-cut sheets waiting to be punched out and assembled.
The wreath started to take shape quickly. The instructions were straightforward — just repeat the same two steps — so the whole thing came together easily. I even put it together while I was quarantined in the bedroom while John worked on another project.
About ten minutes later, this is what it looked like, nearly finished:
And here’s the finished product:
Cardboard Safari sent two wreaths, so we made this twice. Even our pets seemed intrigued — maybe because many of Cardboard Safari’s products use animal shapes, all made without harming any animals. The wreaths are made from 100% recycled, non-toxic cardboard produced locally, which also reduces shipping emissions.
We hung the two snowflake wreaths in the den windows using ribbon looped over the curtain rod — simple and effective.
Because we love decor that can multitask, we also tried using one wreath as the centerpiece for a holiday breakfast set-up. We imagined a cozy pancake breakfast with a candle in a hurricane softly flickering inside the wreath — very inviting for a winter morning.
These cardboard wreaths are highly customizable. They’re paintable, so you can spray them with glitter, paint them a glossy candy-apple red, or decorate them with edible treats. Candy canes hung from a few of the snowflakes would be cute and tasty. How would you customize yours? The wreaths are easy to personalize to match any holiday style.
We’d also love to hear what kind of wreaths you prefer in general — do you gravitate toward fresh pine, ornament-filled modern designs, or architectural square styles? Share your favorites and your ideas for decorating these cardboard snowflake wreaths.
