I’m back to share this month’s bouquet — a super sweet Christmas gift from my husband. Like last month’s bunch, these blooms didn’t come from the grocery store. Instead of buying a $3–$5 arrangement, we clipped fuchsia and coral roses from our own backyard for free. These roses, like the irises that surprised us last month, were planted by the previous owners. We haven’t done anything fancy to care for them — no special fertilizer or treatments — yet they return reliably every year. Here they are looking cheerful in a ruby-red vase on our living room side table:
I love how the two tones play together: the deeper fuchsia blooms frame the arrangement while the coral roses fill the center. The contrast feels lively and balanced, and the colors bring a warm, summery pop to the room.
Even John paused to admire this month’s bouquet. We don’t often use red and pink accents in the house, so the arrangement really stands out and asks to be noticed. It’s hard not to appreciate a punchy, free accessory that brightens the space.
What about you? Have you been picking cheerful flowers from your yard or buying small bouquets from the store? I’d love to hear what’s blooming for you this season and what your backyard is producing now that summer is here.
