It happened again: our little girl is back in preschool.
The change from last year’s first-day photo was striking—we knew she had grown, but seeing it in pictures really drove it home.
Since her monthly photo project paused at her third birthday, it was fun to revive this other tradition and take some snapshots. I had forgotten how funny the results can be when you prompt a kid with things like “smile big!”
“No, like you’re really happy and excited.”
She’s returning to the same preschool she attended last year, but now she’ll go three mornings a week instead of two. She’s thrilled to see her friends again, meet new teachers, and explore her new classroom. I’d be lying if I said we weren’t also looking forward to a few more hours at home for quiet time, projects, and getting some work done. Our new house is about 15 minutes farther from school, though, so we’re definitely feeling the difference in commute time—two round trips add up.
Totally worth it, of course. She loves her school and was so excited to be reunited with everyone.
Somewhere along the way she picked up a little catalog-model strut and pose—suddenly we had a full-on mini model on our hands.
Eventually she realized the photos were delaying her reunion with friends, and this became her “can we go now?” face.
Then we headed off. Sherry found her school bag at an Old Navy outlet for $2 and labeled it with a red Sharpie, since the school asks that everything be marked. How did the first day of school go for everyone else?
