DIY Daisy Bouquet: Step-by-Step Guide to Make Fresh-Looking Blooms

TGIF… or more accurately, thank goodness it’s February.

With the start of a new month came another bouquet from my husband’s thoughtful Christmas gift — a promise of one bouquet a month for a year. This time we snagged a cheerful bunch of white daisies at the grocery store for just $4. I split the stems between three vessels: a proper vase, a mercury glass votive, and an old bathroom cup. That boils down to roughly $1.33 per arrangement, and they add a lot of brightness to our home.

I keep one arrangement on my desk. After long stretches working at the computer, having fresh flowers nearby makes the space feel less sterile and more welcoming.

Another vase lives on the dining table. Even small bouquets seem to make meals feel a touch more intimate and cozy.

The third arrangement sits in the bathroom, so we get a pleasant view while brushing our teeth each morning and night.

For comparison, here’s last month’s bouquet. In early January we picked up alstroemerias, and with regular water changes and a fresh trim on the stems they held up beautifully for over three weeks — nearly into February, in fact.

It’s amazing what a small budget can do to lift the mood around the house. Cheap grocery-store blooms, a quick trim, and fresh water can transform a space and make everyday moments feel special.

Who knows what we’ll pick up in March — any favorite flowers you recommend?
