Christmas Card Ideas Featuring Dogs and Babies — Cute Photo Inspo

Anyone can recreate this photo Christmas card — all you need is a dog and a baby. As the holiday weekend approaches, we’re excited to watch “the kids” unwrap their presents (yes, Burger gets gifts too), indulge in seasonal treats, and spend quality time with family and friends. Before the celebrations begin, we wanted to wish you HAPPY HOLIDAYS and share our little family Christmas card.

The image above is the card we mailed to family and friends. The message reads: “Hope you get your mitts on everything that you want this season.” We used a Snapfish template—just uploaded the photo and our wording—and printed forty 5 x 7 cards on matte photo paper with envelopes. With a coupon code we found online, the total came to about $25.

Getting the perfect shot was more involved than past years. Previous cards featured Burger as a reindeer, a kiss-monger, and even a big brother in waiting, but this year we had both a dog and a baby to coordinate. Convincing Burger to wear his trapdoor sleeper and keeping both little models in place proved challenging. Still, we had a lot of laughs—Clara attempting to lick Burger was an unexpected and adorable moment.

Since you enjoy behind-the-scenes glimpses, here’s how the scene looked in our den when we shot the photo in early December: a few sheepskins arranged for texture and a small block acting as Clara’s stand-in during a diaper change. A quick note: Sherry added the bow to Clara’s head in Photoshop afterward, since she doesn’t have enough hair yet to clip a real bow on.

Wishing you a joyful holiday season—may your days be merry and bright, and may your chihuahuas (and other beloved family members) be snug and happy.

Update: We’ve rounded up some favorite holiday décor finds — many priced under $15 — in a recent collection we put together.
