One of the reasons Ocean Springs resonated so much with us was its striking resemblance to Cape Charles, Virginia – a historic Chesapeake Bay town where we once owned a beloved beach house and our rental duplex. BONUS: Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg, Tennessee: Mountain Fun & Entertainment Galore

We’re adding Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg to our list as a fantastic “bonus” destination because this is where we chose for our most recent spring break adventure! While we initially couldn’t detail our favorite activities, we arrived with a packed itinerary that promised excitement for everyone. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offered breathtaking natural beauty and endless hiking opportunities, while Dollywood provided thrilling rides, incredible shows, and unique Appalachian charm. What truly stood out in this region were the incredible rental houses available – we booked a fantastic Airbnb with friends that boasted a game room, an indoor mini-golf course, a dedicated movie room, and much more! These rentals are often packed with amenities, with some even featuring “Nerf rooms” for epic foam dart battles, promising non-stop entertainment regardless of the weather. From dinner shows and unique attractions like the Titanic Museum to craft shops and Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, the towns themselves are incredibly entertaining, offering a vibrant mix of family-friendly fun against the stunning backdrop of the Smoky Mountains. It’s a destination where every day brings new adventures and plenty of laughs.
