What an exciting past weekend it was! Our dear friends, Katie B (along with Will & Jeremy), made the journey to Virginia to pay us a delightful visit. We always love catching up with the sneaky little Bowers! Among the many memorable moments, we found ourselves in the yard, striking poses with oversized white signs. You know, just the usual blogger antics!

No, it’s not officially sponsored or endorsed by Pinterest – we’re simply a group of utterly obsessed fans who live for creative inspiration. This challenge is our way of celebrating the endless wellspring of ideas found on Pinterest and, more importantly, transforming those digital dreams into tangible reality.

The Genesis of Inspiration: Our Pinterest Challenge Story

For me, the Pinterest addiction runs deep. As you might recall from a certain heartfelt post of yore, I’ve spent countless hours scrolling, pinning, and dreaming. A few months back, when Katie gave me a call, her idea instantly resonated. She proposed a seasonal challenge: dedicating ourselves to creating one project each season, directly inspired by all the amazing content we’ve lovingly curated on Pinterest. And what better name for it than… wait for it… The Pinterest Challenge! It sounded like pure, unadulterated fun, a much-needed push to “stop pinning and start doing.” After all, I’ve pinned literally thousands of ideas, yet only a minuscule fraction have ever made it off my boards and into my home or workshop.

Our inaugural Pinterest Challenge this summer was an absolute blast. It was incredibly rewarding to see our creative visions come to life, and the community response was overwhelming. Unlocking Creativity: The Simple Rules of Engagement

The beauty of the Pinterest Challenge lies in its elegant simplicity: the only rule is to take something inspirational you’ve pinned and put your unique spin on it. That’s it! This means the scope of projects is incredibly broad and wonderfully flexible. Whether it’s a grand home decor transformation or a tiny, intricate craft, a delicious new recipe, a clever sewing project, a gardening endeavor, or anything else that sparks your interest – it’s fair game. This challenge is designed to encourage exploration and personal expression, allowing you to interpret your pinned inspiration in a way that truly reflects your style and skill level.

Last time around, John and I embarked on a fun project, creating a charming clothespin light fixture for our laundry room. It was a fantastic experience, proving that even simple materials can yield impressive results. For this fall edition, we decided to embrace the season, opting for something distinctly autumnal and holiday-themed. Given that our winter Pinterest Challenge won’t roll around until January, this felt like the perfect opportunity to infuse our home with some handcrafted holiday cheer. My current plan is to seize this moment to whip up a delightful array of Pinterest-inspired ornaments, aiming for that truly charming “homemade for the holidays” effect that makes a house feel extra special and inviting.

Our Fall Project: Crafting Festive Ornaments for the Holidays

The anticipation of embarking on a new DIY project is always thrilling, especially when it involves preparing for the festive season. I’ve already dived headfirst into my Pinterest boards, collecting a treasure trove of about fifty different ornament ideas. From rustic charm to glittering elegance, there’s an endless supply of inspiration. The biggest challenge now is narrowing down the options and deciding which ones John and I will actually tackle! We’re also eager to figure out what our unique “riff” on these ideas will look like, ensuring our creations have a personal touch. We’ll be meticulously documenting our process and can’t wait to share all the nitty-gritty details, along with our completed projects, when we wrap up the challenge next week. It’s going to be a delightful journey of crafting, and we hope our process inspires you too.
