Home Renovation Before and After Transformations

We fell in love with Brooke’s second-floor conversion the moment we saw it. Read her note and view the before-and-after photos of the transformation below.

I’ve been a reader for years and wanted to share the transformation of our home’s second floor. When we bought the house it was divided into two separate apartments: the first floor and the second floor. We took over the second floor, stripped it down, and over about 18 months—with help from contractors—turned it into a beautiful master bedroom and a cozy family room. Enjoy! – Brooke

Here’s the stairway leading up to the second floor (before on the left, after on the right):

The second-floor kitchen—originally necessary when the level functioned as a separate unit—was converted into a generous, modern bathroom:

The family room received a complete refresh—now it’s warm and inviting. We love the cowhide rug, the parson’s desk, and the little tree tucked into the dormer nook:

Wasn’t that before-and-after tour delightful? Thanks to Brooke for sharing the full second-floor makeover—every room feels intentional, stylish, and livable. It’s a transformation that proves thoughtful design and patience pay off.
