Katie Bower: Home Decor & DIY Ideas from Her House

She wasn’t a local anymore, but she was visiting this past weekend—along with her partner Jeremy and their adorable little boy, Will. If you’re not familiar with them, you can learn more about the Bowers on their blog: Bower Power.

We had a wonderful time hosting them: feeding them, showing them around, and enjoying each other’s company from Friday through Sunday.

We also filmed a short video, which has become our tradition whenever we get together. (For context, check out a few of our past videos from Nashville last summer: hotel inspiration part 1, hotel inspiration part 2, and shopping for DIY inspiration.) This time we returned to table-setting basics: white plates, clear glass cups, and standard silverware. From those staples, we added five simple elements to create three different looks for your table.

These arrangements are best suited to casual entertaining where food is served from the kitchen and guests return to the table to eat—so the center of the table is kept fairly clear. If you prefer serving family-style with large platters in the center, you can still borrow color and styling ideas from these setups and adapt them to leave space for serving dishes.

If you can’t watch the video with sound at work, simply mute it—each setup and the five items are shown visually, so the ideas are easy to follow without audio. You can also view it directly on YouTube here.
