Our initial vision for a simple, low-effort move quickly gave way to the reality of renovating a home from a considerable distance. - These $16 Forearm Forklift straps were an absolute game-changer for lifting heavy furniture. With these ergonomic straps, we were able to safely and efficiently move every last bulky item ourselves, saving us backaches and potential injury. They distribute weight evenly, making heavy lifting feel significantly lighter.
- For securing our carefully arranged boxes and furniture within the PODS container, these $10 ratchet straps were indispensable. They ensured everything remained firmly in place, preventing any unwanted shifting or tumbling during transit, which was a key factor in avoiding those “horror stories” we heard.
- To protect our furniture from scratches, dings, and chafing during its rumble down the road for over 12 hours, we utilized a 12-pack of moving blankets. We ended up using two packs in total, meticulously wrapping each piece to provide a soft, protective cushion against the bumps and vibrations of the journey.
- We relied on moving boxes from Home Depot, which we conveniently acquired via curbside pickup. We found the small and medium-sized boxes to be the most versatile and helpful for organizing smaller items and books, though a few large ones were essential for awkward items like lampshades and lightweight linens.
- Finally, this furniture stretch wrap proved to be a multi-functional hero. It not only held our moving blankets securely in place around furniture but also kept bubble wrap taut around fragile items. Ingeniously, it even helped us convert random baskets and bins without lids into makeshift, secure boxes by simply filling them up and wrapping the stretch film tightly around the top to contain the contents.
